Not going, but I used to see bands at the Variety Playhouse back in high school on a fairly regular basis (usually Jump, Little Children or Guster but a few others).
It's not huge but it's not tiny either. There's a big area up front for dancing around, seating in the back and also a balcony (I liked it up there since it gave a good view - I'm very short - and you could hear the music very well, though you'll probably go home smelling like pot smoke since that's where all the stoners hang out. I never cared but whatever suits ya).
It's in the little five points area and there's a lot of interesting shops in the area - stop by the Junkman's Daughter if you have time before the show starts. Parking was a problem a decade ago, mostly meters on the street but that may have changed I dunno.
Well enjoy the show! (since I won't be going - feh) |

Okay, that sounds awesome. So maybe Ryman size-ish (Sans the bench seats),or Marathon Music Works ? It's gotta be bigger than the Muse or Rutledge, but those are my favorite venues here. Support your local bands, kids.
I wish you could go, if I was positive when I was coming home, I would have you ride along with my son and me.
Okay, now I seriously sound like crazy stalker chick. I'm seriously not, unless you know, you're actually Jack White. Then all bets are off.
ETA: I feel like a complete Derp McDerpypants. I Googled the venue and found a ton of pics. |

Hmm... thinking.
The layout is quite different from the Ryman but yea I guess they're in the same general category.
Aw, how sweet. I'd love to go hang out with GB with you. Maybe some other time, LOL.
But really it's a nice area (for Atlanta, anyway) and you'll enjoy it. Show up early and muck around a while, meet some people. I made friends with a bunch of other Jump, Little Children fans at the time and we'd meet up before shows and go shopping and grab a bite or whatever, it was nice. <3 |
